Buffalo street lights and parking spots could become "smart" with new wireless network

A story on WKBW-TV reports a partnership between the UB School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and Sigfox, a global internet of things service provider, has made Buffalo a high-tech hotbed.

The article notes that UB is working with the City of Buffalo to explore how student can apply this technology to improve public services, and interviews Josep Jornet, assistant professor of electrical engineering. "It's really cutting-edge technology for UB researchers to conduct groundbreaking experiments that could lead to great societal benefits,” he said.
