SPIR: The Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence

The Strategic Partnership for Industrial Resurgence (SPIR) connects external business and industry partners with the engineering brainpower of UB, Binghamton and Stony Brook.

Magtrol execs in a lab with UB faculty.

Magtrol Inc. turned to UB’s engineering faculty to provide mathematical proof that its product is compliant with a revised accuracy rating standard of the motor test industry.

SPIR grant funding subsidizes access to UB technical support, helping foster breakthroughs with technological advances to lift market share, create jobs and grow a business.SPIR projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Research and development projects
  • Finite element analysis, material design and selection
  • Layout and workflow analysis
  • Employing engineering graduate and PhD students

SPIR is a program of the State University of New York (SUNY) and is administered by UB's Center for Industrial Effectiveness (TCIE).
