Silent Hoist and Crane Company Undergraduate Materials Handling Prize Award

The Silent Hoist and Crane Materials Handling Prize is awarded annually for the best one or two papers on the topic of materials handling. The fund to support this competition was provided through a generous grant from the Wunsch Foundation in the name of Silent Hoist and Crane Company.  

Papers must address some aspect of materials handling.  Topics related to movement, storage, control and protection of everything from raw materials to finished products are acceptable.  The paper may be written specifically for this award, or it may be a paper written as part of a course, co-op, or internship.  


  • 1st prize = $4,000
  • 2nd prize = $2,000

Note: The award selection committee reserves the right to determine the number of prizes awarded


  • Undergraduate students in SEAS
  • Work completed during the prior 12 month period are eligible.
