Alanna Olear, a senior environmental engineering student, has been project director for an applied research project at UB on the sustainability of paper towels and high-velocity hand dryers. She maintained her involvement even during a study abroad experience at the Technical University of Denmark. The project has gained national attention (including a mention in the Wall Street Journal) and won second prize in the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute competition in 2014.
