Main Job Function - Project Sales
I design complete processes for Evaporation and Distillation systems. The initial task is to establish a customer relationship while discussing plant needs and budgets. Once the process needs are defined I start several tasks:
1) Hysys process simulation
2) Process and Instrumentation Diagram/Process Flow Diagram Controls design.
3) Major component design and specification (including soliciting 3rd party bids for components and mechanical assembly)
4) Complete cost estimate
5) Assess customer budget, project margin and strategy to win order.
6) Write Proposal contract
7) Hopefully win order
8) Transfer new project to Engineering dept
9) Follow up to ensure client is satisfied.
I see a lot of need for basic process design skills and hands-on understanding of components of chemical plants (pumps, valves, instruments, vessels, and heat exchangers).
