I worked with engineers of all disciplines in manufacturing and research. A lot of my time was spent in the field at a plant or customer site. I was involved in several meetings trying to formulate approaches or modify equipment to optimize the operation or to resolve quality problems. More often than not these discussions occurred in the plants so that we could get immediate input from the operators of the equipment. Sometimes major equipment modifications had to be made, which would take several years to complete.
