The expansion of the manufacturing enterprise, and advances in manufacturing technologies, have increased manufacturing related career opportunities for students across engineering.
The Minor in Manufacturing will complement engineering majors by providing depth in the area of additional depth of knowledge in methods, processes, and technologies related to the analysis and design of manufacturing systems.
All students must complete EAS 207 (Statics).
Students choose an additional five upper division courses related to manufacturing processes, manufactured project design, manufacturing systems, and manufacturing quality across multiple SEAS departments. Two of these courses must be selected from an MAE or ISE track.
At least three courses applied to the minor must be in addition to those used for a student’s major.
Lower Division Course (required):
EAS 207 Statics
Upper Division Courses (Choose 5. As part of the 5 courses, at LEAST one two-course Core Track must be selected)
Core Track 1:
IE 326 Production Planning and Service Enterprises
IE 327 Facility Design and Material Handling
Core Track 2:
MAE 381 Engineering Materials
MAE 364 Manufacturing Processes
Other Upper Division Courses
IE 409 Six Sigma Quality
IE 406 Computer Integrated Manufacturing
MAE 435 Principles of Material Design
MAE 464 Manufacturing Automation
MAE 477 Computer-Aided Design Applications
