AZO Optics reported on how research advances in reflective microscale concave interfaces (MCI) can help make autonomous vehicle safer, by helping vehicles read road signs.

The article reports that Qiaoqiang Gan, professor of electrical engineering, refined MCI-based structural color technology and explored its possible applications in retroreflective films and tunable reflective displays that could be visualized by infrared and visible light cameras or detected by laser detection and ranging (LIDAR) sensors.
