Program Learning Outcomes

Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) are statements designed to communicate what students should know, or be able to do, as a result of completing an academic program. 

Overview

In support of UB's ongoing mission provide excellent programs of undergraduate and graduate education, and to meet all criteria for the standards of accreditation for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, academic programs continually review and assess program learning outcomes.

To ensure that electrical engineering students are well prepared for success in their future careers, the department assesses program learning outcomes annually.

Program Learning Outcomes: MS Program

Students in the EE MS Program will be able to:

  1. Apply principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 
  2. Design, implement, validate and deploy a component, device, system, or process.
  3. Deliver the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, societal, and ethical context. 
  4. Conduct research in a specialized area.

Program Learning Outcomes: PhD Program

Students in the EE PhD Program will be able to:

  1. Apply principles of engineering, science, and mathematics. 
  2. Design, implement, validate and deploy a component, device, system, or process.
  3. Deliver the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, societal, and ethical context. 
  4. Conduct research in a specialized area that makes a contribution to the knowledge base, including dissemination of their research results.
