Biography

Erik Einarsson was born in Montana in 1977. In 2001 he received a BS in physics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, NM, USA. In 2003 he received an MS in physics from Portland State University in Portland, OR, USA under the guidance of Prof. Jun Jiao. In 2007, he received a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tokyo in Tokyo, Japan, where he studied under the guidance of Prof. Shigeo Maruyama.

From 2007 to 2009 Erik was a JSPS postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Tokyo. In 2009 he was appointed Assistant Professor in the Global Center of Excellence for Mechanical Systems Innovation (GMSI), also at the University of Tokyo.

In 2013 Erik moved to the the University at Buffalo, The State University of New York, where he is an AssociateProfessor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and part of the new Materials Design and Innovation program. His current research interests are in properties of nanoscale materials and their interaction with terahertz radiation.
