NPR quoted Siwei Lyu in a story about new tools that could make it easier for the public to detect deepfakes, and more difficult for AI systems to create them. Lyu said the problem with deepfake detection is that it only works on content that's already been published. Sometimes unauthorized videos can exist online for days before being flagged as AI-generated deepfakes.
