Warnings over AI and toxic beauty myths dog TikTok's Bold Glamour filter

A story published by Agence France-Presse about the latest generation of artificial-intelligence-generated glamor filters on TikTok quoted Siwei Lyu, SUNY Empire Innovation Professor and co-director for the Center for Information Integrity. 

While there’s concern about the ability to misuse the technology, Lyu said it was unlikely that the major platforms like TikTok or Meta-owned Instagram would knowingly provide dangerous tools. 

But "what makes them more dangerous is people who understand the technology could change it to help users evade being identified online,” opening new avenues for misuse, he added.
