UB’s new AI Institute taps technology to aid kids with speech challenges

A front-page story in The Buffalo News reported on UB’s National AI Institute for Exceptional Education, a five-year project funded with $20 million from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education to harness artificial intelligence to help young children with speech disorders. 

The story quoted Venu Govindaraju, who said the NSF program is the “gold standard” and “the most competitive thing in academia today.” Jinjun Xiong and Ranga Setlur are also quoted.
