Kenneth Regan, professor of computer science and engineering and an expert on chess cheating, was interviewed by NPR for a story on the latest scandal in which 19-year-old American Hans Niemann is accused of cheating more than 100 times in online matches.

Despite the accusations, Niemann should still be allowed to play in the in-person U.S. Chess Championships this week, Regan says. “Cross-jurisdiction matters between online chess and in-person chess have not been resolved,” Regan told NPR, which shared the report with member stations nationwide.
