Fact check: Image of Mars is digital rendering, not photograph

The Hoops News repurposed a USA Today story about the ability of the Perseverance rover and the Ingenuity helicopter to capture high-resolution digital images from Mars that quoted Siwei Lyu, SUNY Empire Innovation professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. 

“The reason that (the Mars Rover camera) has high resolution and image quality is that it is one-of-a-kind for this special task, and cost in making it is not a major issue,” Lyu said.
