An article in Business First reports UB is launching the Artificial Intelligence Institute – or UBuffalo.AI – a new institute that will explore how to combine machines’ ability to ingest, connect and recall information with concepts that humans excel at, such as reasoning, judgment and strategizing, to develop dynamic human-machine partnerships.
The article notes that the university has recruited David Doermann from the University of Maryland and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to lead the initiative. Doehrmann is a SUNY Empire Innovation Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
Stories about the institute also appeared on WGRZ-TV and WKBW-TV.
UB is actively monitoring developments related to COVID-19. Please check with event organizers for the most up-to-date information about scheduled events.
