Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching

Introduction

Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing service created by Microsoft for building, testing, deploying, and managing applications and services through Microsoft-managed data centers. It provides software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) and supports many different programming languages, tools and frameworks, including both Microsoft-specific and third-party software and systems.

Education Hub Store

The Education Hub Store is where students and faculty members can download their own software titles and product keys for personal use.

Create an Account

  1. Using an InPrivate or Incognito browser, go to https://my.visualstudio.com/, click "Create one!" and enter your school email address.
  2. After entering your school-email address, hit enter and type your desired password then hit "Next". You will be asked to verify your account by using the code that will be sent to your school-email address. Note: If you got an error "This email address is already a Microsoft Account", you may proceed in accessing the Education Hub Store below.

Access the Education Hub Store

After doing the abovementioned steps, you may access the Education Hub by following these steps:

  1. Using an InPrivate or Incognito browser, go to https://azureforeducation.microsoft.com/devtools
  2. Click on the blue "Sign In" button, enter your school-provided email address, and hit "Next".
  3. Enter your password, then click "Sign in".
  4. Upon signing in, you may be asked to agree to the terms and conditions (for first time users). If not, you should see all the software titles available for download by searching the keyword "Education" and choose the "Education (preview)" from the list.

Notes

  1. Microsoft replaced its Microsoft Imagine Premium free educational software distribution service with Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching in February 2019.
