Undergraduate students should participate in at least one summer research experience during their college career. These experiences are mainly offered through programs funded by the National Science Foundation.

Students are highly encouraged to start building their professional networks as soon as they arrive at UB. University chapters of professional organizations are a great way to meet fellow students and network with alumni. Students should attend regional or national conferences, which promote professional development and also serve as places of recruitment for companies seeking interns and employees in STEM fields. 

Through UB STEM, students are able to participate in volunteer and community engagement opportunities via our community partners. UB STEM hosts at least one service event per semester that focuses on using STEM skills to help the Buffalo community.
