Two SEAS faculty members were among the five UB professors to be appointed to the rank of SUNY Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty achievement in the SUNY system.

A PhD structural engineering student presented her research at the first ever LS-DYNA User’s Meeting for Building and Civil Applications. The meeting was held in Livermore, California and organized by Arup, an international engineering and design firm, and Livermore Software Technology Corporation (LSTC), the technology company that developed LS-DYNA.

An assistant professor representing UB’s Institute of Bridge Engineering (IBE), presented findings of a study indicating the importance of investments in fire protection for railway tunnels.

An article about a “smart corridor” that is in the works for a 2.5 mile stretch of Main Street near downtown reports the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and UB researchers are about to test a 12-passenger driverless shuttle on private roads on the North Campus, with research on it incorporated into the planning and design of the Smart Corridor and Main Street project.
