Michel Bruneau, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, appeared on the ABC-produced program “In the Eye of the Storm: A Survival Guide 2023” that will air periodically in southern Florida this summer.
“Age of construction matters,” Bruneau said while discussing the building stock in Florida and how newer buildings are built to a stronger code and, thus, capable of withstanding hurricanes more so than older buildings. “You can see on the waterfront that some homes survived and some didn’t.”
