News media quoted Michel Bruneau, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, about the earthquake that rattled the greater Buffalo area Monday.

Bruneau said, among other things, that the quake is not related to a much larger and deadly quake that occurred in Turkey. “It’s two different things altogether — the earthquake in Turkey is on the South Anatolian Fault, which is quite remote from anything we’re talking about here today,” he said.

Among the outlets to feature his commentary are New York Daily News, which Yahoo! News picked up; The Buffalo News; WBEN-AM, which MSN picked up; WIVB-TV; and WHEC-TV (Rochester). Other TV stations to include Bruneau’s comments include AP Radio, WROC (Rochester), WKTV (Utica), WBNG (Binghamton), KWWL (Iowa) and WESH (Florida). Those reports are not available online.
