Florida Building Codes Made a Big Difference for Newer Homes in Ian, Reports Show

Michel Bruneau, SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering, was featured in Claims Journal and Insurance Journal discussing how adherence to strong building codes can help buildings survive hurricanes and other extreme events.

Specifically, it mentions a photo showing that 18 homes built before 1981 were completely wiped away by the storm while one house, built in 2020, appears to be almost unscathed.
