Crane collapses on Tappan Zee Bridge

An article in The Wall Street Journal about Tuesday’s closing of the Tappan Zee Bridge after a construction crane collapsed and blocked traffic for hours on the heavily trafficked span across the Hudson River interviews Jerome O’Connor, executive director of UB’s Institute of Bridge Engineering.

O'Connor said the damage wouldn’t likely result in any long-term or significant structural damage. “It’s definitely repairable,” he said.
