Canadian Plastics reports UB researchers are developing a robotic system that relies on machine learning and other technologies to autonomously sort plastics, as well as environmentally responsible solvents that breakdown plastics to make them easier to reuse.

“Not only is this work critically important to our planet, it also contributes to the country’s advanced manufacturing capabilities,” said Paschalis Alexandridis, UB Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, who is leading the project.
