Narenda Srivatsa

This talk will walk through career experiences in driving innovation inside industry by commercializing products and launching businesses in Forest Products, Pharmaceutical/Biotech and Big Data. There are many things I learnt at UB which helped me in this career. The learnings will be shared and potentially developed into a UB pilot program that aims to help graduate students better understand and communicate the industrial relevance of their research and experience.

Narendra Srivatsa did his undergraduate in Chemical Engineering from I.I.T. Madras, India and continued with a MS/Ph.D from UB.  He did his M.S. and PhD with Professor Sol Weller in the area of Catalysis and Reaction Kinetics. He took the learnings from UB to senior management positions in International Paper, Cortegra, BMS, Regeneron, and Verisk Analytics, mapping a journey in various industries, commercializing products, and launching businesses. He also has 7 patents, 6 of which have been commercialized or licensed. Currently he is a consultant helping the Big 4 consulting companies and Investment Management companies with their needs. He is also actively involved in various pro-bono work and an active investor.
