During the senior year, Biomedical Engineering students are required to complete three upper-level technical electives, allowing you to gain advanced skills in areas of Biomedical Engineering that are directly related to your career or educational goals.
Our department offers a number of Technical Elective options. At least two of your three technical electives must be Biomedical Engineering (BE). Approved Biomedical Engineering technical elective courses and descriptions can be found in the undergraduate catalog. Not all courses are offered every year or every semester, and new courses are always being added. Be sure to utilize the class search in HUB to determine what courses are being offered.
Our department will also consider upper-level (300-400) courses from other Engineering or Science departments for use as one of the three required technical elective. To register in any of these courses you must meet the prerequisites and other requirements from the offering department.
We are not able to force you in to any of these classes, nor does our allowing it to fulfill a requirement guarantee that the offering department will allow you to take the course. Approved outside BME technical elective courses and descriptions can be found in the undergraduate catalog. Not all courses are offered every year or every semester, you should utilize the class search in HUB to determine if the course is being offered.
Additionally, you may request to take courses other than those listed in the catalog. To make the request, you must email the Academic Coordinator the course syllabus which will be passed along to the Undergraduate Director for review.
