The new Department of AI and Society, jointly based in UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences, is a transdisciplinary hub offering degrees that incorporate AI across academic disciplines.
Launched in fall of 2025 with $5 million in funding from New York State, the Department of AI and Society builds on UB's position as a national leader in AI and will support research across UB, offer transdisciplinary degree programs, and address the demand for AI savvy employees, entrepreneurs, creatives, and leaders who understand the impacts of AI technologies on society.
