Too close for comfort: Drones pose safety threat to planes in protected airspace

A story on KTNV-TV in Las Vegas about the growing problem of drones that are invading protected airspace every day quotes Javid Bayandor, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.

Bayandor said a pilot would have little time to avoid a drone in its path. “If you have a large commercial aircraft at such a high speed, by the time the aircraft sees you, it would be too late,” he said.
