Safety Certification and Shop Entry Procedure

Safety Certification

All engineering students who wish to use the machine shop for research, class projects, or club projects must take and pass the Engineering Machine Shop online certification course.

A valid student ID card is required. Additional information is available in the Machine Shop.

Online Certification Course (video and quiz)

Shop use is permitted only to those who have passed the online certification course.

Shop Entry Procedure

  • Swipe your UB card (slowly) to enter 105 Jarvis using the card reader on door on the right
  • Swipe a second time, inside the shop, if you intend to do work in the shop
  • Wear safety glasses at all times
  • If you plan to do work in the shop, give your ID card to the technician-on-duty
