WIC supports travel for female graduate students, post-doctoral associates, early career individuals, and young professionals.

The Women in Chemical Engineering (WIC) Travel Award supports travel for female graduate students, post-doctoral associates, early career individuals, and young professionals to the annual AICHE conference. Selected applicants are recognized at the WIC networking event, and are required to present a poster showcasing their work.

Pihu's Experience:

"The AICHE WIC travel award gave me a platform to develop new connections and network with fellow chemical engineering students as well as leaders from academia and industry. I also got an opportunity to present a part of my PhD research at the poster session, where I talked about how NANOG mediated reprogramming of the skeletal muscle can improve functional recovery after Peripheral Nerve Injury. In all, I had a great time at the AICHE conference this year, and I am grateful to have received the WIC travel award."
-Pihu Mehrotra

Carley's Experience:

"I presented my poster following the WIC networking breakfast. The topic was - The influence of short chain fatty acids on normal and estrogen deficient bone remodeling. In our lab, we look at this connection via computational models, so I talked about the published parts of the model as well as the parts that are in progress. The atmosphere of the event was casual, yet I received great questions and suggestions for my work in progress. I enjoyed my experience and would encourage others that are eligible to apply next year."
