We offer graduate students the opportunity to participate in research alongside our distinguished faculty. In addition, students continue to develop through numerous classes and workshops.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.  Please apply by posted deadlines for full consideration for funding and fellowships.

Admissions Requirements

  • A baccalaureate degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • A minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for all undergraduate work during the last two years of the applicant's studies.
  • Prerequisite knowledge/skills in mathematics through the level of multivariate calculus, probability and statistics considered from a calculus point of view, and computer programming.

The Graduate Admissions Committee will also consider:

  • Demonstrated practical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Are you unable to take the IELTS, PTE or TOEFL?

If you are not able to take the IELTS, PTE or TOEFL tests because they are cancelled due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), the University at Buffalo will accept the Duolingo English Test (DET) for proof of English proficiency. This test can be taken online, in your own home.
