Olga Wodo, an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Design and Innovation, was invited to be an external examiner on a PhD committee at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands.

Wodo served on the committee of PhD candidate Vikas Negi, on the defense of his dissertation “Exploring the process-structure-property relationship of organic solar cells by high performance computer simulations.” Negi and Wodo have collaborated on the experimental validation of a model Wodo developed, studying morphology evolution during fabrication of organic thin films.

Wodo's research focuses on in silico studies of the morphological phenomena in engineered and natural heterogenous systems with application to energy, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering and materials science. The ability to understand morphology and to link it with properties of devices (e.g. optical, mechanical, chemical, etc.) has a potential to change how such devices are designed, leading to faster, more economical and more environmentally friendly manufacturing.
