UB continues to rank among the top public universities in the nation, according to the latest rankings released today by U.S. News & World Report.
The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences fared particularly well, with its undergraduate program in computer science improving nine places to No. 29 among public universities and 18 spots to No. 53 nationally. The school improved four spots to No. 30 among public universities and 57th nationally for undergraduate engineering programs that offer doctoral degrees.
UB, New York’s flagship university, is No. 36 among 225 public universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Colleges rankings and 76th among best national universities, which includes public and private colleges and universities.
UB saw significant jumps in its ranking among Best Value Schools, improving 29 spots, to No. 42, among public universities and 128th nationally. In addition, UB jumped seven spots to 40th among public universities and 51st (up 10 places from last year) nationally in Top Performers on Social Mobility, a measure of how successful colleges and universities are at graduating students from low socioeconomic backgrounds who receive federal Pell Grants.
In Best Colleges for Veterans, UB ranked 35th among public universities and 45th nationally.
