The Buffalo News profiled UB spinoff company Garwood Medical Devices, which has raised more than $14 million and “has a chance to be the next hot Buffalo startup.”

The story noted that technology the company is commercializing – electrical stimulation to reduce infections associated with knee replacements and other surgeries – came from the work of UB researchers Mark Ehrensberger and Anthony Campagnari.

It also quoted Tim Murphy, senior associate dean for clinical and translational research at the Jacob School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. “For the company to take off – and be successful – would be a game changer for how joint replacement patients are managed – and the market for that would be absolutely huge,” said Murphy. “The technology of this is most exciting to me.”
