A story on WBFO reports that a UB-based research team is working with Neurovascular Diagnostics, a local company, on clinical trials of a blood test that can detect brain aneurysms. The company is led by UB biomedical engineering alumnus Vincent Tutino.

"We're looking at gene expression in the blood and differences in gene expression between people that do and don't have aneurysms," Tutino said. "Those changes are attributed to the functioning of white blood cells."

In addition to Tutino, Neurovascular Diagnostics cofounders include entrepreneur Jeff Harvey; UB professor Hui Meng, who holds joint appointments in the Departments of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering; and Kenneth Snyder, a UB medical researcher and a neurosurgeon.
