Continuous improvement expert to host tweetathon

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo TCIE will use Twitter to discuss continuous improvement (CI), a business strategy that focuses on progressing operations through proven methods and tools.

Anyone interested – whether novice or veteran practitioner – is welcome to the “Ask the CI Expert” tweetathon on Jan. 29.

“We want to engage the community in a discussion about improving an organization’s performance, and thought this would be an ideal outlet to get the conversation started,” said Timothy Leyh, TCIE executive director.

What: “Ask the CI Expert” tweetathon.

When: Thursday, Jan. 29, from 12:01-1:01 p.m.

How: Participants should use the hashtag #asktheCIexpert and direct questions and comments to the Twitter account @UBTCIE.

Why: “Philosophies such as Lean and Six Sigma can be intimidating, so this is an opportunity for someone to freely ask questions of a seasoned professional with practical experience,” Leyh said. “At the same time, those who are already familiar with or immersed in continuous improvement efforts have access to an outside sounding board.”

The expert: Peter Baumgartner, TCIE’s operational excellence director. He is a Certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt with expertise in operational excellence, Lean manufacturing and change management. He delivers solutions and training to clients of diverse industries – from finance and service to manufacturing – and develops educational content.
