Virtual lab finds the right AI tool for each chemistry problem

Science Magazine reported on the “Artificial Chemist” project that Kristofer Reyes, an assistant professor in the Department of Materials Design and Innovation is developing with North Carolina State University, which incorporates artificial intelligence and an automated system for performing chemical reactions to accelerate R&D and the manufacture of commercially desirable materials.

The work is based on a paper, “Self-Driven Multi-Step Quantum Dot Synthesis Enabled by Autonomous Robotic Experimentation in Flow,” which appeared in the journal Advanced Intelligent Systems. It is supported in part by the National Science Foundation.

UB's Department of Materials Design and Innovation is a joint program between the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
