Minor in Manufacturing

Now more than ever, students across engineering disciplines are seizing opportunities in manufacturing related careers.

Students working in the engineering machine shop to complete their project which consists of machining small metal dice.

With the expansion of the manufacturing enterprise and advancements in technology, there is increased demand for workers skilled in the methods, processes and technologies related to the analysis and design of manufacturing systems. Our minor in manufacturing will prepare you to communicate effectively, enable you to apply appropriate theories and methods, and empower you to solve manufacturing problems and improve system designs.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand and describe current methods, processes, and /or technologies in manufacturing.
  2. Identify, formulate and solve problems in the area of manufacturing.
  3. Apply appropriate theories and methods to analyze and design of manufacturing technologies and systems within realistic constraints (e.g., economic, manufacturability, sustainability, environmental)
  4. Communicate effectively about manufacturing engineering problem solutions, technologies, and system designs.

Curriculum

Non-SEAS students who wish to take courses for the Manufacturing Minor can request registration via the Force Registration Form in the SEAS Portal.
