Generative Design Research at Autodesk

Oct 19 | 3:30 pm | O'Brian 112

Senior Research Scientist; Computational Science Research Group, Toronto, ONT

Abstract

Generative design aims to shift the current CAD paradigm by enabling computers to actively participate in the design process. In generative design, designers specifies the problem to be solved, and the computer generates multiple solutions for the problem and helps designers explore the design space. This talk will highlight the experimental and research efforts made by Autodesk Research to make advancements in generative design. Topics of discussion include shape optimization, configuration design optimization, surrogate modeling, machine learning, knowledge extraction, knowledge representation and reasoning, etc.

Bio

Hyunmin Cheong is a Senior Research Scientist at Autodesk Research. His current research interests lie in the application of artificial intelligence techniques in CAD systems, with a focus on generative design. He obtained his BASc, MASc, and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
