Director of the Institute for Defense Analyses’ (IDA’s) Cost Analysis and Research Division (CARD)

ALEXANDRIA, VA (August 2019) – State University of New York at Buffalo alumnus, Dave Hunter, PhD, has been appointed as the next director of the Institute for Defense Analyses’ (IDA’s) Cost Analysis and Research Division (CARD), effective August 31, 2019.

“Dave has led IDA projects dealing with some of the most significant issues facing the Department of Defense, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Veterans Affairs,” said IDA President Dr. David S.C. Chu. “I am so pleased to have him assume his new role here at IDA and look forward to his contributions that he will make as the CARD director.”

Hunter joined IDA in 1997 and served as CARD’s deputy director for the last two years. He received the 2010 IDA Goodpaster Award for Excellence in Research.

Hunter earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, his master’s degree and doctor of philosophy degree in operations research – all from UB.

He is currently the president-elect of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Roundtable, a group dedicated to promoting excellence in OR practice.

Hunter will replace David Nicholls, PhD, who has served in the role since 2012.
