Meherwan P. Boyce, PhD, P.E. is the Chairman and CEO of The Boyce Consultancy Group, LLC and a Fellow of the following societies: American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME (USA)), Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE (UK)), National Academy of Forensic Engineers (NAFE (USA) and the Institution of Diesel and Gas Turbine Engineers (IDGTE (UK).  

Dr. Boyce received a B.S.M.E. in (1962) from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, a M.S. (1964) in (Mechanical Engineering) from the State University of New York, and a Ph.D. in (Aerospace & Mechanical engineering) in 1969 from the University of Oklahoma.

His career spans from 1962 to the current day in the field of TurboMachinery in both industry and academia. He is presently and since 1997 Chairman and CEO of The Boyce Consultancy Group, LLC. His past experience covers 20 years as Chairman and CEO of Boyce Engineering International Inc., founder of Cogen Technologies Inc., and designer of compressors, pumps, and gas and steam turbines for various manufacturers. His academic experience covers a 15 year period, which includes an Instructor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Oklahoma (1967-1969). He joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas A&M University in 1969 as an Assistant Professor, and was appointed Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 1978. He founded the Texas A&M TurboMachinery Symposium in 1972 and the Texas A&M TurboMachinery Laboratories in 1973. 

He is the author of some of the best-selling engineering textbooks such as the Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook (Fourth Edition, Elsevier), Cogeneration & Combined Cycle Power Plants (Second Edition, ASME Press), and the Centrifugal Compressors, A Basic Guide, (PennWell Books). He has been requested to author the Fifth Edition of the Gas Turbine Engineering Handbook. Dr. Boyce is a contributor to several other Handbooks, his latest contributions is to the Perry’s Chemical Engineering Handbook Seventh, Eight and Ninth Editions (McGraw Hill) in the areas of Transport and Storage of Fluids, and Gas Turbines. He is one of the authors of, ASME’s Energy and Power Generation Handbook, and a Handbook on Combined Cycle Systems for near-zero emission power generation. He is Chair of the Committee which just completed the writing of the ASME PTC 55 Gas Turbine Aircraft Engines, which was approved as an American National Standard by the ANSI Board of Standards Review on July 29th 2013. He is also a member of the ASME Ethics Review Board.

Dr. Boyce is past Chairman of the Plant Engineering & Maintenance Division of ASME, the ASME Conferences Committee and the Electric Utilities Committee of the of ASME’s International Gas Turbine Institute.

Dr. Boyce was the pioneer of On-Line Condition Based Performance Monitoring in 1978.  He is also the recipient of two major patents: one in the area of surge control and the other in the area of external combustion firing in gas turbines. He has developed models for various types of power plants and petrochemical complexes.  His programs are being used around the world in power plants, offshore platforms, and petrochemical complexes. He is a consultant for major airlines in the area of engine selection, noise and emissions. His consultant expertise is utilized in the Aerospace, Petrochemical and Utility industries globally and is a much-requested speaker at Universities and Conferences throughout the world.

Dr. Boyce, he has taught over 150 short courses around the world attended by over 3,000 students representing over 400 Corporations.  Dr. Boyce is on both industrial and social boards.  He is a Development Board Member, 2011-Present, University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)-Health, Galveston, Texas; the Board of Advisors Texas A& M University for the Turbomachinery Symposium (only member voted a life member); the Board of Advisors for the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, University of Oklahoma; the Industrial Advisory Board of the Department of Computer Science, Southwest Texas State; the Advisory Board of University of Texas Health Center-Houston;, and Past Chair of the University of Texas Advisory Council Dental Branch.  

Dr. Boyce is Chairman of the Virtuosi of Houston, a premier youth chamber orchestra; Trustee of the Houston Symphony; and past President of the Houston Galveston Stavanger Sister Cities Society.  He is also a Founder Director of the World Zoroastrian Chamber of Commerce and Vice President of the World Zoroastrian Organization.  He is the holder of the Bharat Scout (India’s equivalent to the Eagle Scout) and a member of the Board of Directors Sam Houston Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

He brought to the Deans Advisory Council experience as a Professor and also industrial experience as a CEO of an engineering corporation.
