Retired VP of Engineering and CTO, Zodiac Aerospace
With a history of engineering quality improvements driving peak revenue, retaining major corporate customers, enhancing systems engineering practices, and expediting product development and delivery, Ashok Jain has served as VP Technology and Program Management, Chief Engineer, Fellow, and Senior Manager Engineering at Zodiac Aerospace Oxygen Systems, Hamilton Sundstrand, Honeywell-Allied Signal, and Pratt & Whitney.
Noted for the ability to shape team culture and focus engineering teams on complex customer requirements, Ashok’s work has created across-the-board changes in product development, engineering excellence, international team coordination, and responsiveness to FAA, EASA, DoD, and other requirements. In his former position as VP of Engineering, Technology & Program Management at Zodiac Aerospace Oxygen Systems, Ashok holds CTO and COO authority for product strategy – satisfying pent-up demand and resolving former delivery bottlenecks with revised engineering methods including a new test environment, productivity measures, root cause and corrective action tasks, and a switch to systems engineering techniques critical to the industry’s first LavOx product. Here, he stepped into an engineering organization experiencing significant delays, quickly bringing 32 new products to market, ensuring consistency among 120 indirect reports in US and European teams, achieving FAA product certifications, and staffing and training Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and manufacturing groups.
Formerly serving as Chief Engineer for the Design Assurance, Airworthiness, & Certification Office of Hamilton Sundstrand Power Systems and a Fellow in Systems Engineering, Ashok developed and oversaw the Design Assurance Office as a key step in meeting FAA requirements (and meeting delivery dates). While fostering buy-in for design and engineering changes, he met frequently with FAA and EASA officials to assure regulators of the company’s commitment to quality – enabling Hamilton Sundstrand to gain 4 Auxiliary Power Units in a year and setting a new standard for compliance.
Ashok earned an MBA in Management from Arizona State University, an MS in Aerospace & Applied Mechanics from the University of Cincinnati, an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Technology in Aeronautical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College. He is credentialed as a Program Management Professional (PMP), Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP), and a Six Sigma Black Belt, and completed Leadership Programs at United Technologies and Honeywell. He chaired the Systems Engineering Application Technical Committee (SEATC), served as Co-Chair and member of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Technical Board, and sat on the INCOSE Corporate Advisory Board representing Honeywell & UTC, among other leadership roles. Ashok’s career includes Technical Achievement Awards from Honeywell, United Technologies, US Air Force, and other civic and professional organizations.
