Library Research and Other Related Services

  • The Libraries remain open and operational at this time  See Library Hours.
  • Walk-up library research services are no longer available for the spring 2020 semester. Subject librarians are still available for research consultations via email, telephone, and through virtual consultation sessions.
  • If you have a question outside of normal business hours, we also offer the “Chat – Ask a Librarian” service 24/7
  • You can continue to search the UB Libraries collection through the Everything SearchEngineering & Computer Science Research Guides are available for subject specific resources.
  • Course reserve items are being reviewed to determine if an electronic version (e-book) can be purchased. If your course has an item currently on Course Reserve, contact your professor to see if they are aware if an e-book version of the item has been purchased.
  • Delivery+ is still operational. However, we are unsure how the delivery of physical items from other university libraries will be affected (if other libraries around the country/world close). Electronic items delivered through Delivery+ will continue as normal.

Tips for First-time Online Learners

COVID-19 Guidance for SEAS Undergraduate Students

  • The SEAS Office of Undergraduate Education is ready and eager to support you during this challenging time. Our office will continue to provide a wide range of advisement services. We are happy to assist you with current issues that you face as well as planning for the Summer and Fall 2020 semesters.  We are here to support you via email, telephone, and online videoconference meetings.
  • You can make an appointment with your academic advisor by calling (716) 645-2775, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, or by using the online scheduling system. When participating in a meeting with an academic advisor, we recommend that you have access to a computer, such that you can follow along with the many online tools that our advisors make use of.  Advisement appointments are available Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm.

  • Your home department will send any relevant updates regarding faculty advisement.

COVID-19 Guidance for SEAS Graduate Students

Prospective and New Students:

  • The SEAS Office of Graduate Education is currently maintaining normal business hours Monday - Friday, 8 am to 5 pm as well as email monitoring that occurs outside standard business days and hours. Questions related to recruitment and graduate admissions should be sent to or call (716) 645-9099.

Currently Enrolled Students:

  • Your home academic department will continue to provide support for any course and advisement related issues.
  • Current graduate students that have a question about a specific course they are enrolled in are encouraged to contact the instructor of the specific course directly. Any general questions related to course advisement, registration, TA/RA appointments, tuition payments or graduation should contact their department’s specific Academic Coordinator or Director of Graduate Study.
