Professor Edward Furlani received an NSF SBIR subaward for the development of a Macroscale Knudsen Pumped Solar Thermal Collector.
This energy harvesting system converts solar to thermal energy and has a self-pumping energy transport mechanism based on the nanoscopic phenomenon of thermal transpiration. He will perform modeling to quantify fundamental operating mechanisms and to guide the development of prototypes.
