Deepfake videos are getting better, and the Pentagon is worried

Newsy reported that with deepfake videos becoming much harder to detect, the Defense Department is funding researchers like Siwei Lyu, Empire Innovation Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, in what it called a high-tech arms race to outsmart media manipulators.

“This line of work is like a cat and mouse game,” said Lyu. The story adds that Lyu noted that our own behavior can help stop the spread of falsified media by using and sharing only from trusted media sources. “We need to be very careful about what we are seeing and what we are hearing,” said Lyu.
