Civil engineering alumnus, geotechnical engineer named ASCE fellow

Jaideep Chatterjee, PhD, PE (PhD ’07, MS ’02) has been named fellow by the American Society of Civil Engineer’s (ASCE) Board of Direction.

Over the course of his career, Chatterjee has worked in several different areas associated with geotechnical engineering. He has experience in heavy industrial onshore and near-shore oil, gas and chemicals projects, large commercial developments, directional drilling, and many other areas. His contributions to the profession are significant.

According to ASCE, “ASCE fellows have made celebrated contributions and developed creative solutions that change lives around the world. It is a prestigious honor is held by 3% of the organization’s members.”

Chatterjee is also a part-time adjunct faculty in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Jackson State University, Jackson, Mississippi

Chatterjee earned both his MS & PhD degrees from the University at Buffalo’s department of civil, structural and environmental engineering. While earning his degrees, he specialized in geotechnical engineering, and several of his published work in the field of computational geotechnical engineering established new methods of solving geotechnical problems.
