The design of complex structures requires an understanding of both analytical tools and fundamental engineering principles. This presentation explores how combining advanced structural analysis techniques with a first-principles approach leads to more efficient, resilient, and innovative structural solutions. Marc is an Associate in Arup’s New York office and leads Arup’s East Specialist Technology, Analytics and Research Team. His focus is on earthquake engineering, performance-based design, and the design and analysis of complex structures. Marc has delivered analysis-led design on a variety of projects including historical masonry buildings, skyscrapers, off-shore platforms, mine shafts, tunnels, bridges, observation wheels, and more.
Outside of Arup, Marc is a Lecturer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s School of Architecture and School of Engineering. He received a BS in Civil Engineering from the University at Buffalo and a MSc in Earthquake Engineering from the Istituto Universitario di Studi Superiori in Pavia, Italy.
