Using AI for innovations in drug delivery and energy storage, and helping robots interact with one another are a few of the projects that students in UB SEAS will work on thanks to the SUNY program.

Kaihang Shi will create microporous polymers to make natural gas processing more energy efficient.

Kaihang Shi, who joined the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering as an assistant professor in 2023, received a Doctoral New Investigator grant from the American Chemical Society (ACS) Petroleum Research Fund (PRF). 

The new faculty bring expertise and interest in areas ranging from theoretical computer science to next-generation solar cells.
