UB CBE Postdoctoral Associate Mohamed Alaa Eldein Mohamed Earned the NIH Pathway to Independence Award
MOHAMED ALAA ELDEIN MOHAMED (Stelios Andreadis group) received the prestigious NIH Pathway to Independence Award (K99/R00). The NIH K99/R00 Award provides up to 5 years of grant support for promising postdoctoral scientists seeking to complete mentored research career development that will facilitate their timely transition to an independent, tenure-track or equivalent faculty position.
Mohamed’s research focuses on the development of innovative dynamic hydrogels with tunable mechanical properties and bioactive cues that support the growth and maturation of salivary gland organoids. These organoids can serve as cell therapies for tissue regeneration or as platforms for drug screening and testing. The K99 award is a testament to Mohamed’s promise as a young investigator who integrates advanced biomaterials design with biological engineering and regenerative medicine.
