On Saturday, March 16th, 2019, UB hosted a Tech Savvy 14 event at the North Campus Student Union. Drs. Tsianou and Alexandridis along with CBE students Mohammad Ghasemi, Samhitha Kancharia, and Betsy Shepard presented the session "From Sun to Biomass to Materials". The Tech Savvy event is designed to encourage girls to explore science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) careers through a fun, illuminating day of activities.  Studies show that after middle school, girls often become disinterested in science and math courses, and high-school girls tend to enroll in science courses at lower levels than their male counterparts.  Tech Savvy is presented and sponsored by the American Association of University Women Buffalo Branch, Inc. Major support for Tech Savvy is provided by Praxair.  UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences also provides support for TS14.
